New Year, New Priorities

Happy 2013! It’s been a while since my last post, almost 2 months to be precise, and I’m happy to announce that I’m back! Aside from being busy with family matters and the holiday season, I needed some time away from the cyberworld to re-evaluate my priorities. I have come to the decision that, apart from this blog, I am going on a writing hiatus to focus more on other aspects of my life – primarily my family and my health.

I’ve been writing on and off for many years, either for personal or professional reasons. I have explored various platforms available to writers, whether it be on TV, radio, in print or online. I’ve had my share of lows, and for the most part highs. After 20 years of writing, I think I’ve reached my goals and I feel it’s time for me to move on to other things.

Although there’s sadness that accompanies this realization, I have to admit that I’m more relieved because it has been a struggle for me to continue writing these past few years. I’ve had a hard time focusing, maintaining inspiration and finding the drive that I used to have. I don’t want to continue forcing myself to do something my heart is no longer into just because of money. I want to do something that makes my heart sing even if I don’t get compensated for it. At the top of my list is my family – primarily my hubby and kiddos. I want to really be here for them, as opposed to merely being physically present yet mentally preoccupied as I’ve been these past years due to other obligations. I also want to focus on my health and well-being.

I’m excited to embark on this new phase of my life and invite you to join me in this journey of self-realization. Happy New Year everyone! May we all have a joyous, successful, peaceful and safe year ahead of us.
